An epic science fiction and fantasy film from 2019. It is part of the Star Wars franchise now owned by Disney.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (also known as Episode IX) is the third of a new "sequel trilogy" of films with a plot set cronologically 30 years after the events of the "original trilogy" of Star Wars movies from the late 70s and early 80s.
It is a direct sequel to the Star Wars: The Last Jedi film from 2017.
The new film premiered in December 2019.
