His most famous paintings include Starry Night, Cafe Terrace at Night, and the Sunflowers.
Although among one of the most famous and influential figures in the history of Western art, he was considered a failure and a madman during his lifetime where he struggled with severe depression and debatable mental instability, with the most notable story being of how he once cut off part of his own ear.
