squats (warhammer 40k)

The Squats were a race of Abhumans from Warhammer 40K based on the Dwarfs of Warhammer fantasy. Due to Games Workshop disliking how they were created, the Squats were made extinct in the 40k lore due to the Tyranids invading the Squats homeworld. Despite this, many fans still love the Squats and wish to see them again in the current Warhammer 40k universe.

In 2022, the Squats were officially brought back to Warhammer 40k under the name, Leagues of Votann. Furthermore, it was explained in the new lore they were never extinct as the world that was invaded by the Tyranids was in fact one of the many worlds owned by the Leagues of Votann and miscommunication by the Imperium of Man led the latter to believe the Squats were killed off by the Tyranids.
