A baby pygmy hippopotamus born on July 10, 2024 at the Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Sri Racha, Thailand. Her charm attracted many visitors to the zoo as well as caused her to go viral on TikTok and become an Internet meme. She has also been subject to harassment such as being splashed with water and having objects thrown at her, resulting in widespread condemnation online.
Moo Deng's widespread popularity has caused increased awareness of the pygmy hippo species, though some of the photos and clips attributed to Moo Deng are actually of other baby pygmy hippos, most notably her brother Moo Tun.
