One of the characters of the Choujikuu Yousai Macross TV series, the Macross 7 TV series, the Macross: Do You Remember Love? and the Macross Delta: Zettai Live!!!!!! movie adaptations, the Macross Flashback 2012 OVA and the Macross M3 video game.
Max Jenius was born in Europe. He is a young fighter pilot, having joined Ichijou Hikaru's Vermillion Team, along with Kakizaki Hayao, at the age of only 16.
Jenius shows in his first sortie that he is a preternaturally talented ace pilot who is near invincible in combat, despite his need to wear corrective lenses on duty. He is quickly recognized as the top pilot of the force, as marked by being granted to distinctively repaint his mecha into his preferred blue color.
His mecha of choice are the VF-1 (and its VF-1A, VF-1J and VF-1S variants), the VF-3000, VF-4, VF-9, VF-11, VF-14, VF-22 and the YF-29. All are painted in his favorite blue and white color scheme.
In the Robotech western cartoon adaptation his name was changed to Maximilian Sterling and his ethnicity to American.
