Héctor is a charming trickster in the Land of the Dead who enlists Miguel to help him visit the Land of the Living. He's portrayed as a walking skeleton with short black hair, a goatee and brown eyes. He wears tattered clothes, a bandana and a straw hat.
As it turns out, he's the patriarch of the Rivera family and Miguel's great-grandfather. He was married to Imelda Rivera and he's the father of Mama Coco. He was murdered by Ernesto de la Cruz, his musical partner and childhood friend.
