Ernesto de la Cruz is the most famous musician in the history of Mexico and Miguel's idol. Revered by fans worldwide until his untimely death, the charming and charismatic musician is even more beloved in the Land of the Dead. He's portrayed as a walking skeleton with short black hair, a mustache and brown eyes. He wears a charro suit, featuring a jacket with bow and a sombrero.
He was the childhood friend and musical partner of Héctor Rivera when he was alive. Ernesto murdered him to get his songbooks after Héctor choose to return to his family back home instead of becoming famous.
