The DP-27 or Degtyaryov machine gun (DP) a Soviet light machine gun that fires 7.62×54mmR cartridge, designed by Vasily Degtyaryov. Service trials starting in 1927, followed by general deployment in 1928. It is the standard Soviet infantry LMG during World War II. With various modifications it was used in aircraft and almost all Soviet tanks as either a flexible bow machine gun or a co-axial one controlled by the gunner. It was improved in 1943 into the DPM, then replaced in 1946 with the belt-fed RP-46.
The most iconic feature of DP-27 is its standard 47-round pan magazine. So it was nicknamed the "record player". Speaking of pop culture depiction, it is the signature weapon of Tachanka from Rainbow Six Siege and a popular gun in PUBG.
