The Workers' and Peasants' Red Army, or more known by their shortened name Red Army, was the prime land warfare forces of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republic. It was established in 1917 and was in service until 1946 when the army took the official name of "Soviet Army", It was then in service until its dissolution in 1991 following the dissolution of the Soviet Union. The remaining bulk of the military would be integrated into the Russian Armed Forces.
