A cutting-edge MS developed by ZAFT using data from the Impulse Gundam and its pilot, the extraordinary yet ferocious "super-ace", Shinn Asuka. Propelled by a Hyper-Deuterion Engine and using multiple armaments bearing very close resemblance to iconic weapons used by mobile suits from different Gundam timelines, the Destiny performed at extremely high levels and sported great versatility.

The Destiny's design is basically a combination of the Impulse' three forms for flight and high mobility, close-quarters power and long-range fire support, similar to the older Perfect Strike Gundam (though with new additions mentioned above).
