cyber fashion

cyber cyberpop サイバーファッション サイバー サイバー系

A Japanese fashion style that emerged in the 1990s in Harajuku. It shares similarities with Y2K fashion in that it is focused on 90s and 2000s retrofuturism. It is sometimes also referred to as cyberpop.

The style primarily resolves around artificial-looking materials such as glossy vinyl, faux fur, and anything shiny. Clothing and accessories are often see-through, glowing or holographic. Common accessories include visor caps, headphones, goggles, masks, plastic jewelry, etc. Clothing is often brightly colored, and common motifs include aliens, stars, planets, computers, etc. UFO skirts are commonly associated with the style.

Similar to cybergoth fashion in the West, synthetic dreadlocks are also sometimes worn in bright colors.
