A Dullahan, she left her native Ireland and came to Japan in search of her lost head. She rides a motorcycle possessed by her ghost horse, and in public wears a full-body black bikesuit and bright yellow cat-eared motorcycle helmet to conceal her fae nature. Due to her lack of a head she cannot speak and instead uses a smartphone-like text entry device to communicate. (In the anime adaptation, she is voiced in certain scenes as a form of dramatic license).
Celty's neck ends at a black surface which continually emits black smoke. Celty can freely manipulate this smoke, forming it into various shapes and solidifying it. Her bikesuit is in fact made of it, which allows her to transform it into different clothing.
Celty's head, which in fanart can be depicted reattached, has short, reddish-brown hair and blue-green eyes.
