Tag crossdressing as girl or boy?

As the title says, should male cosplayers dressing as female characters be tagged as girl, boy or both? I've seen examples of both so I was not sure.

I feel they should be tag as the gender they are unless they are transgender, it get complicated for sure.

Generally you should tag what the intended gender of the cosplay is, i.e. a male cosplaying a female character that passes if you were to look at it normally gets 1girl. You can diverge from this if there's an obvious disconnect between the two genders (post #2256 for example) or if hashtags etc. indicate that the crossdressing is relevant to the cosplay.

I see, I tagged post #13972 with 1boy because the commentary indicates the cosplayer is a boy was that correct course of action?

Yes, that's a perfect example of what I meant.

It definitely does, but part of the reason to prefer character over cosplayer is that we already tag all other things as if they are the character in question. Also, the other option leads to some weird need to do a "transvestigation" every time you find a new cosplayer, which is obviously quite a silly thing to do.
