yorck (azur lane)

ヨルク(アズールレーン) ヨルク 约克

Azur Lane's personification of the Imperial German Navy heavy cruiser SMS Yorck.

Not to be confused with the Royal Navy heavy cruiser HMS York due to pronunciation; while the Japanese katakana is "YORUKU" for Yorck, York's is "YO-KU".

Appearance

History

In real life, Yorck was the second and last member of the Roon-class armored cruisers (reclassed as CA in Azur Lane). By the time she was commissioned in 1905, the first battlecruisers entering service quickly made armored cruisers like her obsolete.

Prior to World War I, she was involved in training cruises and mishaps before being sent to reserve in 1913. In July 1914, she was returned to service in time for the war, but did not last long as she was sunk in a German minefield in early November that same year.
