The iconic antagonist of the Japanese horror movie The Ring. A ghost girl who haunts a cursed video tape by emerging through the screen of anyone who watches it.
Due to her corpse having spent too long at the bottom of a well, she has pale skin, long, black stringy hair covering both of her eyes, and her fingernails rotted away. She wears a white robe, which is sometimes depicted as a white dress instead.
She has enjoyed long-lasting popularity in the Japanese - and later worldwide - anime community due to a trend of "moe-ifying" into a ghost girl with large breasts who will become shy when her eyes are exposed or when her would-be victim pointed out her breasts. This characterization has later become the archetypical depiction of various "ghost girls" in various anime media.
