A playable character from the Contra video game series. He appears in the Neo Contra game from 2004.

Genbei is a mysterious samurai soldier and Bill Rizer's new partner in combat. He is a dark skinned humanoid alien from the isolated planet "Oh! Edo". (Edo is the former name of Japan's capital.)
He is the only character in Neo Contra able to wield a Katana sword, the most powerful weapon in the game.

One of playable characters in Contra ReBirth is called "YAGYU", but he looks completely different from "Jaguar" in the Neo Contra.

Some fans believe his design was based on a historical person, but nothing official has been said about that.
