The personification of the Colorado-class battleship USS West Virginia (BB-48) in Azur Lane.

Appearance

Her original design by Rail (Silverbow) (Danbooru post #2975385) portrays her with short blonde hair and orange eyes. Her outfit consists of a peaked cap, eyeglasses, black gloves, a white top, black dress, miniskirt, and garter strap thighhighs.
Her rig consists of two sides, each with two 406 mm twin mounts and a funnel.

Her revised design by Chuzenji (Danbooru post #3297426) radically changes her form, now sporting pale skin, long black hair, and red eyes.
Her outfit was changed to a black jacket strapped around a black dress and a secondary white outer dress, while her black gloves remain intact from the original. She also wears black rudder footwear.
Her rig was also changed to better reflect the real-life namesake, with two 406 mm twin mounts per side and her cage mast and CXAM radar holding the two sides together.

History

In real life, West Virginia was among the battleships sunk in Pearl Harbor, moored outboard of Tennessee and thus took the brunt of the damage. Refloated in May 1942, she was modernized in the West Coast in a style similar to the Tennessee-class: turning their superstructures into a compact form reminiscent of South Dakota. Unlike the two Tennessee-class ships, the scale of her damage and modernization meant she only reentered active service in mid-1944, in time for the battle of Leyte Gulf. Here, she led the battle line that engaged Nishimura's fleet in the last battleship-to-battleship engagement in history, firing the opening shots against Yamashiro from 20.8 km out and Mogami from Artillery bombardment, knocking the Heavy Cruiser out of action.

Later seeing service in Iwo Jima and Okinawa, she was decommissioned in 1947 and scrapped 12 years later.
