Large oceanic species of fish from the tribe Thunnini used as food and for recreational fishing. Their streamlined bodies and retractable crescent-shaped fins are adaptations for fast swimming. A very popular and cheap food worldwide, Japan is the second largest tuna producer and consumer in the world.

This fish is often associated with the Vocaloid Megurine Luka and the character Kiana Kaslana.
