top gun: maverick

The 2022 sequel to the original 1986 Top Gun. Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer reprise their roles and are joined by Jennifer Connelly and Miles Teller among others. Deemed both a commercial and critical success.

In Japan, a collaboration was announced with Umamusume featuring Mayano Top Gun (whose namesake horse was named after the movie, and also whose personality is similar to that of a pilot from the film) as a special advertising pilot, including replacing Cruise's Pete "Maverick" Mitchell in an alternate official Japanese movie poster (Danbooru post #5348482, published on Twitter by both Umamusume and the movie's Japanese Twitter account).
