tokido (gamer)

Tokido (real name Taniguchi Hajime) is one of Japan's highest level fighting game players.

He became much more popular over the internet after playing a match of Super Street Fighter IV using Akuma (Gouki) against Clark Smith (ClakeyD), an Ibuki user, at the 2010 Southern California Regionals.

On the final round of the match, ClakeyD made a huge error which allowed Tokido's Gouki to perform a Focus Attack and finish off ClakeyD's Ibuki with Gouki's Ultra I, the Shin Shun Goku Satsu (Raging Demon). While the animation for the move was still going Tokido put down his fightstick, walked in front of the projector, and imitated Gouki's pose while the kanji 天 (ten) was shining on his back, in a ceremony that became known as the "Murder Face".

Three time Evolution champion, for Capcom vs SNK 2 in 2002, Super Street Fighter II Turbo in 2007 and Street Fighter V in 2017.
