the binding of isaac

TheBindingOfIsaac 以撒的结合 tboi bindingofisaac

An indie roguelike horror video game created by Edmund McMillen and Florian Himsl. It was initially released in 2011 for PC.

The story plays out like a modern retelling of the titular story from the Bible. Isaac is a young boy living with his mother. Things are swell, until one day Mom hears a voice from someone she believes to be God, who eventually tells her to kill her son. Isaac, having learned about this, flees in terror to the basement via a secret trapdoor. How much of this story is real (if anything at all) is left up to debate.

The game takes primary inspiration from The Legend of Zelda games, with top-down dungeons to explore, plenty of monsters to fight, and lots of treasure to collect.

It received a full remake in 2014 titled The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth. On top of the original game, Rebirth introduces a lot of new enemies, levels, characters, and items. While initially released on PC and the like, Nicalis would help port it over to consoles such as Playstation 4 and Nintendo Switch, the latter of which comes bundled with all of the DLC up to that point (Afterbirth and Afterbirth+, though Repentance needs to be bought separately).
