This magpie is mostly blue with a black head, neck and breast. The eyes are yellow, and the bill and feet are red. The wings and tail feathers have white tips; the underwing is dark grey to light grey.
One of the Taiwan blue magpie's colloquial names is the "long-tailed mountain lady."
