Supergirl, also known by her Kryptonian name as Kara Zor-El is a character from DC Comics' Superman series. She is the young female counterpart of Superman, usually having the same powers as he does.
There are many iterations of the character "Supergirl", but the most well-known and generally considered the "base" version is Kara Zor-El. She came from Argo City, which survived the destruction of her home planet Krypton but soon came to its own destruction. As Superman (Kal-El) is the last son of Krypton, then Supergirl, his cousin, is the last daughter of Krypton, with both coming from the same family house of El. She wears a female version of Superman's costume that usually gives her a skirt among other feminine alterations depending on her variation.
