spartan (destroid)

A mecha from the MACROSS series. It first appeared in Choujikuu Yousai Macross TV anime series from 1982.

The Centinental/Kransmann MBR-07-Mk II Spartan destroid is a main battle robot system (mecha) created by the U.N. Spacy to fight the Zentradi.

This is a heavy armored and armed mecha. It has two launchers with several missiles for long to mid range attacks, as well as a concealed gun cluster in its torso with a flamethrower, a grenade launcher, a machine gun and an energy cannon.

Besides its ranged weapons the mecha also possess two powerful manipulators (hands) designed to rip through the armor of most Zentradi mecha. It can also be equipped with a heavy baton for giant maclone riot control.

In real life the Spartan was designed by Miyatake Kazutaka in the early 80s.
