south dakota kai (kancolle)
In her first remodel/kai, South Dakota switches to a black jacket referring to her historical counterpart adopting Measure 21 camouflage for majority of her career.
The previously mentioned remodel includes upgrades to her main battery of 406 mm/16-inch Mk6 triple guns. The seemingly disproportionately large size of her weaponry compared to her body reflects the somewhat flawed characteristics of the historical fast battleships: Trying to fit 16-inch guns and corresponding armor but staying within the parameters set by the Washington Naval Treaty, resulting in cramped ships. (Although another reason for her short stature may be because the youngest American serviceman of World War II actually served aboard her in Guadalcanal.)
