The in-house Sega-owned development team for video games of the Sonic series since the Genesis/Mega Drive era. They were originally known as Sega AM8 prior to the 90's and are responsible for the development processes for the Sonic Adventure games, Sonic Heroes, Shadow The Hedgehog, Sonic Riders, Sonic 2006, Sonic Unleashed, etc. Also worked on the handheld games on the Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS, namely the Sonic Advance and Rush games with the help of the developer, Dimps. The team has also developed other Sega games like NiGHTS into dreams…, the Phantasy Star series, Burning Rangers, PuyoPuyo Fever, Samba de Amigo, Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg, and Chu Chu Rocket respectively. Formerly lead by Naka Yuji, now under the leadership of Iizuka Takashi.
