An assault rifle manufactured by SIG Sauer from 2007 to 2016. Designed after the earlier SG550, it features Picatinny rails, an AR-15-style magazine well and lower receiver. The SIG 556 is available in both 5.56×45mm NATO (STANAG magazine compatible) and 7.62×39mm (compatible with AK magazines).
