shogun warriors

Shogun Warriors was a short-lived Marvel comic series featuring licensed Japanese super robots as part of the Marvel superhero universe. The comic series focused on three robots in particular - Raideen (renamed Raydeen), Combattler V (renamed Combattra), and Danguard Ace (renamed Dangard Ace). The three robots were piloted by new original characters and the combiners were changed from multi-pilot units to single-pilot.

The comic series was an extension of Mattel's late 70s/early 80s toyline of the same name, which featured imported Japanese mecha toys from assorted anime and tokusatsu series, as well as some kaiju. Apart from the robots listed above and some Super Sentai toys, the following were featured exclusively in the toyline.

  • One-Seven from Daitetsujin 17 (renamed to 17 Robot)
  • Daimos from Toushou Daimos (renamed to Dynamo, as in the Starbirds dub)
  • Getter Dragon from Getter Robo G (renamed to Dragun, as in the Starvengers dub)
  • Getter Liger from Getter Robo G (renamed to Raiden)
  • Getter Poseidon from Getter Robo G (renamed to Poseidon, as in the Starvengers dub)
  • Gaiking from Gaiking
  • Grendizer from UFO Robo Grendizer (someties called Grandizer)
  • Great Mazinger from Great Mazinger (sometimes called Great Mazinger or simply Mazinga)
  • Leopardon from Spider-Man (with no references to Spider-Man himself made on the product)
  • Voltes V from Choudenji Machine Voltes V
  • Getter-1 from Getter Robo (sold as a model kit only)
