Starting in 2007, SoftBank began a series of commericals that revolved around the Shirato family to advertise its White Family plan. Ueto Aya and Dante Carver play siblings and Higuchi Kanako plays the mother. The father, Shirato Jiro, is a talking dog played by Kai, a white Hokkaido dog. Jiro is mostly called "Otousan" by his family, so on Pixiv, users tend to tag the appearance of the dog with the お父さん tag.
The Shirato family commericals often have famous guest stars, who generally act as relatives of the family. For example, this one has Quentin Tarantino and this one has Tommy Lee Jones.
