Fictional detective created by Scottish author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Commonly portrayed with a deerstalker hat and curved pipe. Best known for his catchphrase "Elementary". Assisted by Doctor John Hamish Watson and frequently opposed by the professor William James Moriarty. Solved cases using logical reasoning, disguises and the new field of forensic science.
