shahryar (racehorse)

Persian: "Great King". This is the name of the main antagonist in the frame story of Arabian Nights.

Japanese racehorse. Sired by Deep Impact and foaled by Dubai Majesty.

One of the dominant colts of the 2021 Generation, he is the winner of the 2021 Japanese Derby (Tokyo Yushun). He also gained fame by winning the 2022 Dubai Sheema Classic but ended up slumping afterwards. A frequent traveller, he raced in Dubai (3 times), in the United States (twice) and in Great Britain (once).

He retired after the 2024 Arima Kinen, making him the last of his generation's classics to retire, but not before making an effort to win the race starting from the outside gate. He only lost by a nose to Regaleira.
