A distinctive style of braid that twists the hair when braiding, resembling a rope. "Rope braid" usually refers to a two strand twist, where two strands of hair are twisted together. However, a similar look can also be achieved using other numbers of strands. For example, a three strand twist is a braid where three strands of hair are twisted together. Occasionally a single strand of twisted hair can also result in a similar look. These are not always distinguishable by eye. For tagging purposes, all of them are considered rope braid.
