ribbon bar
Also called service ribbon or medal ribbon. They are often a part of military or police uniforms, and usually appear as the colorful stripes seen above one of the breast pockets.
Ribbon bars are pieces of fabric mounted on a small metal bar equipped with an attaching device. They represent various awards or accomplishments of the individual or of the sub-group (squad, division, platoon, etc.) the individual is a part of.
