rathalos
A flying wyvern from the Monster Hunter series.
Rathalos are large, red, fire-breathing dragons known as the King of the Wyverns. All are male, the females are called Rathian. Unlike Rathian, Rathalos fights mostly from the air, has poisonous talons, and is able to shoot fireballs while in flight. They're often found in wooded and volcanic regions.
The flagship monster for the first game in the series, it has appeared in every game since, and often represents the series in crossovers such as those in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Dragalia Lost.
There are two known subspecies; the Azure Rathalos, a blue variant, and the Silver Rathalos, a rare variant with a metallic silver sheen. Originally appearing in Monster Hunter G, they have both made a reappearance in Monster Hunter Portable 3rd and in Monster Hunter 3 G.
