quick release steering wheel

A type of aftermarket steering wheel designed to quickly be removed or attached from a car. Often installed for weight reduction or aesthetic purposes, though their popularity among enthusiasts has become controversial due to the fact that they lack basic safety features of factory steering wheels (such as an airbag).

Quick release wheels can easily be distinguished from a standard steering wheel from the 6 bolts placed around the center of the wheel, as well as the quick release mechanism itself, which is distinctly visible from a side view.
