A pedestrian crossing sign is a road sign to alert oncoming traffic that they're either approaching a crosswalk or they're approaching an area where pedestrians frequently cross the street.
These signs at minimum usually depict a silhouette figure walking and may include the figure walking in a crosswalk. These signs are similar to school crossing signs, which serve a similar purpose but depict the figure of a boy and girl carrying a book in their hands.
