p-39 airacobra
The Bell P-39 Airacobra was an interwar period fighter aircraft, very innovative for its time due to having tricycle landing gear as well as cannon armament. Certain problems with its engine at high attitudes (attributed to a lack of a decent turbo-supercharger) made it limited in United States Air Force service during WWII, however it was popular amongst Soviet forces, with many of them being sent there due to Lend Lease and most successful against Luftwaffe aircraft.
