north carolina (azur lane)

ノースカロライナ ノースカロライナ(アズールレーン)

Azur Lane's personification of the battleship USS North Carolina (BB-55).
Character design by Kishiyo, voiced by Horie Yui.

Appearance

North Carolina is portrayed in the fairly typical fashion for Americans, being blonde-haired, blue-eyed, tall, and having large breasts. She wears a stylized US Navy dress uniform and brandishes her namesake state's flag on her right shoulder as an armband.

Personality

Personality-wise, North Carolina will admit to having none whatsoever, though she generally behaves in a courteous and professional manner. However, as her affection level rises (and when she's Pledged to), she'll reveal a hidden lewd side, inquiring as to any possible interest in bunnysuits. As a result, she is frequently portrayed wearing them in fanart and eventually received an official costume after overwhelming fan demand.

History

North Carolina was the first new battleship to be built after the signing of the Washington and London naval treaties, in response to Imperial Japan's new battleship construction in violation of the agreements. Her experience during World War II was limited mostly to shore bombardment and anti-aircraft operations, save for an incident in which she and two other ships were torpedoed by the Japanese submarine I-19. In the 1960s, she was converted into a museum ship and can be visited today in Wilmington, North Carolina.
