Nie Rongzhen (Traditional Chinese: 聶榮臻) (Simplified Chinese: 聂荣臻) (Nieh Jung-chen in Wade-Giles) (December 29, 1899 – May 14, 1992) was a Politician, Writer and a prominent Chinese Communist military leader and one of the ten Marshals in the Chinese People's Liberation Army of the PRC. He was the last surviving PLA officer with the rank of Marshal. He was the Mayor of Beijing in 1949 to 1951.
