A school swimsuit originating in the 1980s that does not have a dividing line above the crotch like the old school swimsuit. "New school swimsuit" (新スク) may be used in Japanese to refer to a competition school swimsuit (with shoulder straps distinct from the body) or newer nontraditional school swimsuits like the double frill skirt swimsuit, but neither should be tagged as "new school swimsuit".
