The first game in MOTHER series from Nintendo by Itoi Shigesato, released for the Family Computer on July 27, 1989.

This game was translated but unreleased in North America for some time, leaving a prototype. On June 20, 2003, this game was re-released in Japan for the Game Boy Advance along with MOTHER 2 in a 2-in-1 game, MOTHER 1+2. On June 14, 2015, the translated version was released internationally under the title EarthBound Beginnings.
