Azur Lane's personification of the Royal Navy battleship HMS Monarch, as part of the World of Warships collaboration.

Monarch is portrayed as a large-breasted, purple-eyed redhead wearing a stylized Royal Navy uniform with an admiral's sleeve insignia, with a peaked cap, thumb rings, black gloves, black jacket around her shoulders with aiguillette and epaulettes, and black thighhighs.

Her rigging consists of her triple 381 mm guns as well as her secondary battery of four 133 mm twin DP mounts, while she uses a scepter as her melee weapon.

Personality and history

Personality-wise, Monarch is bitter over being abandoned in favor of the 14-inch design that would go on to serve the Royal Navy (though for pragmatic reasons; the Admiralty reasoned such a gun caliber change would delay completion until 1942 at the earliest), while being extremely proud of her capabilities, considering herself "The Greatest". She also expresses resentment towards her King George V-class half-sisters, believing them inferior to her, especially Prince of Wales (as PoW was the only one of the class sunk).

As a reference to being taken from World of Warships, Monarch gains an ability based off of the "Adrenaline Rush" skill, improving her reload as the damage she takes increases.

Historically, the only “Monarch” from the era was an Iron Duke-class dreadnought. The HMS Monarch seen in both games is based off of a design proposal for what would become the King George V-class battleships, armed with three 381 mm triple gun mounts. British policymakers, fearing another naval arms race, called for a reduction in main battery gun caliber to 356 mm.
