mephiles the dark
One of the main antagonists in Sonic the Hedgehog (2006). His original appearance is almost identical to that of Shadow the Hedgehog, except that he lacks a mouth, and his eyes, shoes and fur stripes are gray. Upon transforming, his body becomes more crystal-like, and gains green eyes and red sclera.
Mephiles is one half of the ancient, time controlling sun god Solaris, the other one being Iblis, from which he was separated from 10 years prior to the game's events. They were soon sealed inside the Scepter of Darkness and Princess Elise respectively.
Upon being released and taking Shadow's form, he attempts to persuade both him and Silver into helping him become whole again. Mephiles is notorious for being the first villain in the games to succesfully terminate Sonic the Hedgehog.
