Mary Angel is a member of the TASC (Tactics Armored Space Corps), an aerospace combat unit used for defense of the human colonies from planet Glorie.

She is a very professional (and somewhat arrogant) mecha fighter ace. Her robots of choice are the Logan and the Auroran.

Her name in the ROBOTECH western adaptation was changed to Marie Crystal.

Mary's character design was based in the American female rockstar Joan Jett .
