margherita pizza

A typical Neapolitan pizza, made with tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, fresh basil, salt, and olive oil.

Allegedly, the name of the pizza was named in honor of Queen Margherita of Italy (9 January 1878 – 29 July 1900) in 1889 by Italian Chef Raffaele Esposito.
