magma taishi (character)

A character and protagonist from the Magma Taishi science fiction super robot manga and tokusatsu series from the 60s.

Magma (マグマ Maguma) is a giant humanoid alien mecha hero forged in gold who just like his human-sized wife Mol and son Gam, transforms into a giant rocket. He has long human-like blonde hair and also fires missiles out of a panel located in his chest, and shoots electrical bolts from his antennae.

Magma is considered one of the earliest Transformers, even before the anime super robot, Yuusha Raideen, set the standard for the genre.

According to character creator Tezuka Osamu, Magma is technically not a true super robot, but an alien giant made of gold. However, because of his appearance and powers he has been classified as such since decades ago.
