madou monogatari

Translated as "Story of Sorcery," known in the west as "Sorcery Saga." A trilogy of first-person dungeon crawler RPGs by Compile. The first game was released in 1989 for MSX and NEC PC-9801. Many characters from this series would later be used in the puzzle game series Puyopuyo, which is considerably lighter in tone.

A spiritual successor named Sei Madou Monogatari was made by Compile Heart for the Playstation Vita in 2013.
