Liminal spaces are an aesthetic portraying empty or abandoned places that appear eerie, forlorn, and often surreal. The word "liminal" in this case refers to places that are typically in-between or transitional, such as hallways, waiting rooms, hotels or shopping malls. However, it does not necessarily have to be indoors to be considered a liminal space.
