Lilo & Stitch is a Disney franchise comprising of multiple films and television series. The critical and commercial success of the 2002 animated film of the same name written and directed by Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois was an outlier among the films of The Walt Disney Company's feature animation studio during the first half of the 2000s, during which the studio wasn't doing so well as they were compared to the 1990s (the Disney Renaissance) or the 2010s (the Disney Revival). The franchise has seen three sequel films, three different TV series, and various other media and merchandise, most of which put a greater focus on alien protagonist Stitch.
