The story follows a middle-school student named Ryou, who lives on her own. She has a passion for cooking and makes friendships through her cooking.
With slightly erotic food scenes, both the anime and manga are full of detailed cuisine art to whet the appetite. The "koufuku" in the title is a wordplay on two Japanese homonyms—one which means "happiness," and another that means "appetite."
